Chap. Summary: Seohyun’s not that innocent. She’s also a lucky creeper.Author's Notes: I hope to ruin some old school Seobb mental images, obviously. Apparently, she just goes by Seohyun. She’s like Prince. Or Madonna.
Ask anyone who knew Seohyun and they’d call her studious, well-mannered, quiet, tall, good-looking, or even intimidating. However, they wouldn’t call her creepy.
That’s because she kept her creeping under wraps.
She stayed up all night poking through every nook and cranny of Kwon Yuri’s Facebook. And there was a LOT to look at. Yuri apparently fancied herself a camera hog. Seohyun's eyes burned from scanning over seven thousand photos. SEVEN. THOUSAND. 7,231 to be exact. She never imagined that a human being could be tagged so many times.
After having a proper conversation with her on Saturday, she gained enough facetime to add her as a friend without looking like a complete weirdo. Seohyun viewed Yuri as an enigma. A person who had lovely packaging, but harbored so much doubt inside.
She smiled to herself, thinking how Yuri bowed five times in a row after showing up late. Her face turned so red, like she was on the verge of tears. She’d been observing Yuri since their first course together last semester. Other classmates, mostly men, would attempt to chat her up or sit next to her with the intention of flirting, but it never worked for them. Yuri seemed to constantly drown herself in a sea of thought. Wrapped completely in her own mind to the point of forgetting the simplest things--like what time class started.
At first, her aloof actions fit the “beautiful, mysterious woman” tropes until Seohyun witnessed her walk face-first into a door clearly marked “PULL.” So, either this impeccably dressed woman lacked any kind of common sense, or she had more to her.
Seohyun could relate. She went for long periods of time without uttering a word. All the day-to-day hassles, upcoming projects, and overall stress usually occupied her thoughts.
Another thing took up her mind: sex. Somewhere down the line, she’d become obsessed with it. She read erotic stories online, scoured xxx gifs on Tumblr, and listened most attentively to any sexy story coming out of Sunny or Taeyeon’s mouths. But, where to acquire this sex? And how?
Sure, approaching a guy and asking him out would probably make things simpler. Her mother always offered to set her up with a son of her many colleagues. She never said yes, however. She later realized that she desired sex from women. Maybe not too many women. A single woman would do.
That’s more than likely why she gravitated towards lesbian pals. They never hit on her, but gave her the safe space to express doubts in her sexuality. The first time she exhibited the slightest interest in the ladies, they looked close to tears. Like proud, unmarried lesbian mothers.
Back to Yuri. Once she walked through the door on their first day of class (15 minutes late, no less), her brain declared, “That’s the one. I must have sex with her.” Easier thought than done, surely. But those lips, and that dark, shiny hair. She took note that Yuri ran her long fingers through her hair whenever she got flustered. It has to be the sexiest thing on Earth. Years of being the quiet recluse made her well-prepared to keep the fangirling to herself while maintaining a straight face.
For Seohyun, it felt like an out-of-body experience talking to her. Yuri seemed so helpless and freaked out that it clouded her coward’s urge to look the other way. When she spoke to her asking, “Left it at home?”, she didn’t even recognize her own voice. It sounded so confident. Even playful.
When Yuri blurted that Seohyun had a nice smile, it took every fiber of her being to keep a pleasant face. The butterflies inhabiting her insides multiplied by the millions, tickling every organ. She had to grip the side of her chair to stay afloat. There were so many replies she considered, both cutesy and salacious. She ended up making a lame comment regarding her sketchbook.
The Facebook hunt started amazingly. A treasure trove of information and images, topped with the squee-worthy fact that she accepted her. Quickly, too. An hour and two minutes later. Not that she was counting.
Eventually, it took a sour turn when she discovered the pictures of her girlfriend. Of course she has a girlfriend. The fact that Yuri played for her team supplied a bit of hope, but the girlfriend, Im Yoona, looked like a model. Obscenely beautiful. With dainty little facial features. She examined the photos intensely, hunting for any traces of plastic surgery.
One would think that finding out about a girlfriend would change her course of action. Instead, it made her want Yuri more. So confusing. She decided to move onto the next step: telling her best friends. They always promised to help her get laid. Well, the time had come.
+I found her. was all she typed before setting the phone back onto her desk.
A reply in five, four three--
Faster than I expected!
It was Sunny. +Tell me who! I’ll fetch her for you right now! ;-D
While Seohyun tapped up a reply, her phone buzzed again in her hands.
+She better be mighty special to catch my Seohyun’s eye. Taeyeon. Always so protective.
To her more casual friends and classmates, the SunTaeSeo friendship combo came off as unpredictable. However, their personalities meshed together seamlessly, even through all the outer differences.
She could still recall meeting those two years ago. For the summer, she worked at her mother’s firm as an assistant secretary. She spent her 30 minute breaks wandering around the busystreets nearby. Everyday, she noticed a funky little art gallery two streets over, yet never took the effort of checking it out until an ombre-haired woman invited her in.
“I couldn’t help noticing you walking by,” the short girl mused aloud. The tag on her shirt spelled her name in fancy handwritten script: Taeyeon.
Seohyun felt her face redden. “Am I that obvious?”
“Ohhhh yeah,” a high-pitched voice echoed from the other side of the drafty warehouse. It came from a long blonde-haired Sunny in cut-off corduroy shorts and a t-shirt covered in dried dots of cracking paint.
“Do you like art?” the first girl asked as she returned to her post behind the front counter.
Seohyun nodded, admiring the tall, colorful pieces of abstract art. Most had so many layers of paint that they jutted from the walls like jagged reliefs. “Yes. In fact, I’m in graphic design. It’s not exactly the same thing. Same ballpark, though.”
“Not nearly the same thing,” the blonde girl scoffed, combining two buckets of glossy white paint.
“Sunny. Be nice,” Taeyeon scolded.
Seohyun squirmed, unconsciously taking a backwards step closer to the door. Taeyeon pointed the gesture out.
“See? You’re scaring her off. This is why we don’t have enough visitors.”
“Maybe we don’t have enough visitors because your girlfriend refuses to spruce up the front of the building. I bet people can’t even tell that this is a gallery.”
Girlfriend? She remembered thinking, Did I hear that correctly?
“She says that our good energy will attract the right people.”
Taeyeon snorted and nodded to herself. “True.”
“Do you go out with boys or girls?”
It took Seohyun a few seconds to realize the questions were directed to her. “Uh-I...I date boys.”
Sunny loudly clinked newly- emptied metal pails into a stack. “Good! Women are complicated.”
“Not all of them,” Taeyeon countered.
“Says the one dating a hippie. A rich hippie at that. How does that work again?”
“She’s financially secure while in a constant state of love and peace.”
“Not to mention she’s high all the time."
“She was definitely high enough to let us work together.”
Sunny laughed. “We don’t get anything done.”
“Pretty much.” Taeyeon eyed a blinking light fixture before returning her gaze on Seohyun. “You should come hang out with us more often.”
Is that what hanging out is for these two? Watching them goof off? “Maybe. My break is ending soon. I should go.”
“I hope we didn’t scare you off.”
“We scare everyone off,” Sunny whined in a baby-ish voice.
“You’re a little intimidating,” Seohyun admitted lowly, wary to echo her words in the spacious studio.
Sunny wasn’t hesitant about having her voice bounce around the space at all. “Don’t be scared! We’re really chill people!”
“We’re also the worst employees ever.”
For some reason, that statement made Seohyun wholeheartedly laugh, which elicited a surprised face from both of them.
Sunny faked a gasp. “She thinks we’re funny!”
“Now you have to come back.” Taeyeon grinned widely. “We’ll make you laugh every day.”
They’ve been making her laugh ever since.
She chose not to reveal Yuri’s name. There were still more things she wanted to investigate and it’d be better to discuss such information in person. Besides, both her buddies kept texting her, so they must have been too busy to talk.
+You got this, girl.
+Anybody would be crazy to turn you down. :3
Seohyun smiled at their messages before returning the phone to its place on her desk to re-check the Facebook photos. She automatically clicked on the red ‘3’ on her notification tab. Her heart nearly jumped out her chest when she read three alerts of “Yuri liked your photo.” Could we have been creeping each other at the same time? She hurriedly opened the pictures in three new tabs.
Let’s see what she likes about me.
The first was her cover photo--a beach landscape that she took last summer. Boring.
Next, she viewed one of her profile pictures, a black and white close up. That’s promising.
She smirked when she saw the last photo--a picture from the same trip to the beach. Bikini image. Yesss. It featured Seohyun and five bikini-clad cousins. Does she like me in a bathing suit or all the skin-showing in general? Or, she just likes the beach.
Whether or not these likes meant anything didn’t matter. Yuri took the time out to go look through a few weeks worth of pictures. Of me. Yuri on her computer--or phone, tablet, anything-- looking at me. Seohyun sighed heavily and screencapped the notifications. Even Yuri’s name on her page looked beautiful. Everything about her is beautiful. And sexy.
Just imagine what would happen if she commented on one of my pictures. I wonder what she’d say. That reminded her--Yuri may still be online. She checked Facebook chat and, sure enough, Yuri’s name came up with the little mobile icon next to it. Her white cursor hovered over the name. If I start talking to her, it’d almost be like we’re texting. What would I talk about? School?
Fighting all urges to shy away, she tapped up the first thing that came to her head and pressed Enter. +Hey Yuri! Did you ever find that sketchbook? :)
Dear god, I’m so lame.
She drummed her fingertips against the keys as she waited for a reply. What if she’s busy? Or out with friends? Or worse, with Yoona. Im Yoona. Why’d her girlfriend have to be so damn beautiful? There has to be something wrong with her.
She skimmed through Yuri’s pictures from Christmas. A very Yoona-heavy album. All the smiles and bashful candids of the two made Seohyun nauseous. Yoona’s wearing a felt reindeer headband and she doesn’t look ridiculous. I hate her.
+I did find it. It’s rite where I left it. >.< popped up in the corner.
Seohyun admired the message, waiting for a minute to pass before answering. Can’t look too desperate. +Good good. ^_^
Maybe I should have said more?
+How’s your Sunday going?
She kept her eyes pasted on the 'Yuri is typing' message on the bottom of the window. Yuri’s actually chatting with me! We’re chatting. Right now.
+Boring.=_= I have to clean all day.
+I like cleaning! I do it to relieve stress. ^_^
+That’s wht drinking’s for. If u want, u can come over n do this cleaning for me. ;)
A winky face. That’s suggestive, right? Maybe even flirty.
+I would if I knew where you lived. hehe. Pleased with her response, she nodded to herself in approval.
+U’d hate me for tht. Yoona’s like a drill instructor.
Oh, is she now? +Is she a neat freak?
+A HUGE one. She should b, tho. I’m messy. -_-
She’s so precious. +Cute. lol.
+Yea. She is cute whn she’s like this.
Damnit, you’re cute, not your girlfriend. Not Im Yoona: Cleaning Nazi. She selected a smiley face for courtesy.
+I told her abt how you helped me out 2day. She said thank you.
I couldn’t care less what she says. +It was no problem, really. You looked panicked.
+I WAS. I wnted to cry.
+Hey! U have amazing drawin skills, too. Wish I drew like that...
Even that simple compliment caused her smile to stretch wider across her face. +I could help you out someday.
+Rly? would u?
+Yes! Like a study party. We could get ideas from each other.
+I’d like that. :)
I’d like that even more. +:D
+g2g. Yoona noticed me on my phone. See u n class next time, if I’m not dead.
Seohyun hopped out her chair and spun around the bedroom Disney princess-style. Arms stretched out and everything.
What a breakthrough! I managed to speak face-to-face with Yuri, gain her as a Facebook friend, and chat with her all within the span of a weekend. Everything’s moving so fast. I wonder what all these interactions will bring.
Hopefully sexy times.
